ELCAAdvent is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  Advent uses both Augsburg-Fortress (ELCA) and Concordia (LC-MS) publishing houses for worship, Sunday School, bible study and educational materials.

 

Leadership Team:  

Pastor SorcekPastor:  (retiring) The Rev. Dr. Paul M. Sorcek has faithfully served as Advent's pastor for 36 years from June 1982 thru August 2018. He is a graduate of Valparaiso University (B.A.), Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (S.T.M. & M.Div.) and Eastern Baptist (now Palmer) Theological Seminary (D.Min.). 

During Pastor Sorcek's leadership at Advent, many ministries have touched the lives of members and friends of all ages, both young and old, with the Good News of Jesus Christ.  Advent has been blessed and has expanded with several building programs, culminating in our present worship sanctuary and spacious narthex completed in 2004.

Pastor Sorcek has completed three terms (9 years) of service as Dean of the Lower Bucks Conference (17 congregations) of Southeastern  PA synod of the ELCA. Pastor lead the drive to feed the hungry via the Warminster food pantry, Souper Bowl of Caring and other programs. He was active in the larger community serving as Chaplain and Fire Police Officer for Warwick Township Fire Company, and also served on several county and state crisis intervention teams. 

Pastor Sorcek and his wife Ruby plan to retire to the Lehigh Valley area.

Michael Dettra_Music Director
Music Director: Michael Dettra is a graduate of Council Rock High School and Temple University with a Bachelor of Music degree. Michael is an experienced church pianist, organist and choir director, most recently at Solebury United Methodist Church. He has taught band and music at Our Lady of Good Council School, Southampton, directs the choir at Woods School in Langhorne, and has accompanied many groups including the Newtown Arts Company. 
Michael, his wife Katie and their two children live in Newtown.
